Taking in the panoramic view of Sydney Harbour from the rooftop of the Sydney AMP Building, Graeme Lewsey, CEO of Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival (VAMFF) together with Alicia Kemp, National Fashion Manager – Major Projects AMP Capital Shopping Centres and 2017 Business Speaker alumni Joanna Gunn, Chief Brand Officer of Lane Crawford (HK), announced the stellar and much anticipated line up of speakers that will descend on Melbourne in March 2018.
With the growth of tickets sales and visitation for Australia’s largest Fashion Festival emerging from outside of Victoria, and as a major sponsor of the Festival’s Business Program, Sydney based AMP Capital Shopping Centres were eager to host the launch event in Sydney to capitalise on the national interest in the Festival and Australian fashion.
As host of the event, Graeme Lewsey spoke of the revolutions developing in the industry, “Creative and commerce platforms are developing almost at the speed of light; embracing transformational changes to keep up with consumer demand for innovation and instant gratification. Though we must take note that the future is not about output, but more so it will be the outcome that businesses will be judged on.
The Festival Ideas program will open with this cosmos of thinking, the act of pushing against convention often means facing adversity. Each speaker will tie in a moment they were told, ‘you can’t do that’ and how they overcame that adversity to leave an indelible mark on their industry.
For the last two years, the Festival has played a pivotal role in celebrating International Women’s Day, once again dedicating a forum within their Business Events Program for 2018. On Thursday 8 March from 8.00am – 9.30am, the stage will again be filled with a panel of dynamic and inspiring speakers. The event, presented by MIMCO and marie claire urges all to help forge a better working world and a more inclusive gender equal world so women can continue to unleash their limitless potential.
Guest speakers next year at the International Women’s Day forum will include Liane Moriarty, global best selling author of Big Little Lies, Natasha Stott Despoja AM and Dr Nikki Stamp, one of only eleven female Cardiothoracic Surgeons in Australia, with more to be announced soon. Hosted by Nicky Briger, Editor of marie claire.
