Front of House guru Erez Gordon joined us for Part Two of our Industry Commentary Series, presented in partnership with the WA Good Food Guide.
Last night saw the globally renowned Front of House expert Erez Gordon, share some brilliantly quipped industry anecdotes with an intimate crowd of 45 specialist Front of House and Service Management staff from some of Perth’s top performing bars and restaurants, over a deliciously local Western Australian menu at New Normal in Subiaco.
Gordon, who has over two decades of experience working in some of the world’s most highly regarded establishments in the UK and Australia, shared his key insights, both positive and negative, regarding the Front of House services in the food catering industry. One of the key highlights in Gordon’s message about the new wave of Food & Beverage catering is the importance of the quality of service being provided by operators and their Front of House managers and staff.
Front of House staff are the only difference between the one product you have to sell and a diverse and varied customer.
Following his main address, Gordon was joined by revered local Front of House managers Anneke Brown (Como The Treasury) and Mark Patterson (The Standard) in a panel discussion moderated by The West Australian Food Editor Rob Broadfield, covering critical topics from industry awards and staffing, career prospects for staff and best practices for achieving high standards of service. Flooring questions from the evening’s guests, the panel dove deep into problems faced by the service industry and the need for greater support when it came to making the service industry an attractive prospect for young people in the long term.
It’s rare that (the Food & Beverage industry) talks about us…
Our success (and talent) is changing how people feel.
The third and final instalment of the AMP Capital X WA Good Food Guide Industry Commentary Series will be held on 1st October, ahead of the WA Good Food Guide Awards, presented by AMP Capital Shopping Centres, on October 29th 2018.
